The views are some of my favorites in Maine. It’s a ridgeline trail that begins at Speckled Mountain and runs east over several lesser peaks named Butters Mountain and Red Rock Mountain, all the way to Miles Notch. This trail leads about 1.2 miles to the 2200-foot open summit of Speckled. Superb hike up to Speckled Mountain! Miles Notch Trail is not shown. I believe this trail is mislabeled as Hard. In some spots it was upwards to 5 feet. It is the easternmost notch through the White Mountains (the next ones to the west being Carter Notch and Pinkham Notch). 26 and 219 in West Pari, go east on Route 219 for 4.8 miles before turning left on Tuell Hill Road. The idea (and map) for this hike again came from the indispensable Maine Mountain Guide’s recommended hikes (see our review of the 11th edition here ), and did not disappoint.
